OPENING CARO & SELIG, TEGERNSEE, AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION
In March 2023, the first urban hotel of Tegernsee celebrated its grand opening right in the heart of the town: the Caro & Selig, Tegernsee, Autograph Collection. This boutique urban hotel offers 125 rooms and suites, is home to the FREYHEIT grill restaurant, as well as the hotel’s centerpiece: the NI BAR and its 380-square-meter rooftop terrace overlooking Lake Tegernsee and the Alps. It is the first new building by the Autograph Collection Brand by Marriott in Germany. More than 500 invited guests attended the grand opening, including Dr. Michael Bütter, CEO of Union Investment Real Estate GmbH, Satya Anand, President of EMEA Marriott International, Mag. Erwin Soravia, CEO of SORAVIA and Stefan Massa, CEO of Xenios Hospitality.
“What makes the hotel so special is its historical significance,” says hotel director Moritz Dürler. The hotel is named after Queen Caroline of Baden, who derived a great deal of joy from her adopted home in Tegernsee even back then. Today, the Caro & Selig is a place for guests from all over the world to feel Caroline’s enduring spirit in a contemporary context: feminine accents, elegant shapes and traditional materials characterize the interior design. The project was accompanied by the architectural firm JOI Design, which has already won several awards for its hotel designs.
20-YEAR ANNIVERSARY LOISIUM
The WeinWelt in Langenlois is considered the cradle of the LOISIUM group, making it the perfect location for an oenophile celebration in May 2023. Numerous guests from the business and political spheres celebrated the start of the wine hotel group’s anniversary year. Since its opening in 2003, LOISIUM WeinWelt in Langenlois has acted as a wine and culture hub in Lower Austria. Furthermore, it boasts a unique combination of contemporary architecture, lifestyle ambiance and centuries-old winemaking craftsmanship.
The LOISIUM concept—modern, urban buildings in the midst of Europe’s most beautiful wine-growing regions—is a platform for the respective region to showcase itself through its products and services. “What started here with WeinWelt in Langenlois has now developed into a group that includes two hotels in Austria and another in France. Our vision is to spread the unique LOISIUM concept all across Europe,” Mustafa Özdemir said hinting at the construction of the fourth hotel in the French Alsace region, which is scheduled to open in 2025. Remodeling work is also expected for the two Austrian locations in South Styria and Langenlois in 2024.
GRAND OPENING MAYBURG SALZBURG, A TRIBUTE PORTFOLIO HOTEL
In early December 2022, after only 2 years of construction, the Mayburg Salzburg, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel opened about 80 meters from the Salzach riverfront, located in the middle of a traditional residential area of Salzburg.
The Mayburg is part of the renowned Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, which comprises independent design and lifestyle hotels. With modern architecture and an inspiring ambiance, the Mayburg Salzburg offers design-savvy travelers a modern retreat in a tranquil, naturally designed environment across its eight junior suites, 29 deluxe superior rooms and 51 standard rooms. Inspired by Josef Mayburger (1814–1908), one of Salzburg’s most important landscape painters, the concept and interior design of the new hotel were crafted precisely for this location. His style of landscape painting is reflected in the hotel’s jovial ambiance, as is his intimate relationship with the beauty of nature.
The grand opening of the hotel in May 2023 was attended by numerous partners and friends. Cluster General Manager Razana Dürr-Mohideen is already hinting at further plans: “We are proud to have opened Marriott’s first Tribute Portfolio Hotel here in Salzburg—and there’s more to come!”
